A view of a street running parallel to yesterday's post, again during some ungodly hour. The contrast between this and the busy hours is amazing. I'd take a few shots if I could set up my tripod during those hours, but you'll only see a mass of bodies jammed up like lemmings on their way to a free fall.

"mass of bodies jammed up like lemmings"... Ohhh man.. I laughed so hard at this one :D. I loved that game sooo much. Back to business :) - How did you achieve this almost theatrical effect? I mean, when I tried long exposures, my sources of light (lamps for example) were way over exposed thus ruining their surrounding. On your photos, you have almost "matrixsy" effect. Film noar kinda .
Lemmings is a classic! Love that too :) and Film Noir is the exact effect I was attempting to achieve (except with color). The trick lies in the post processing and HDR technique that I use, followed by post processing in Photoshop.
HDR requires one shot taken at optimal exposure (this shot acts as the guide), one underexposed (to capture the details that would have otherwise been blown or burnt out, ie: the lamps) and one over exposed (to capture the details that would otherwise be lost in darkness) and than combined. So the key is to adjust the levels n curves so only the underexposed shot is 'mixed' with the optimal one, leaving the details of the lights intact.
I use Photomatix for HDR. Have you tried HDR or that program before? I'll look into posting a tutorial when I have a time :)
A blog and selection of my personal works. Coming from a B+W background, the works I do are usually heavily desaturated, with a slight injection of color to express mood more than reality.
